Year 4

In Year 4, Mrs Hull and Mr Kelleher aim to provide a happy learning environment where all children are encouraged and engaged in their learning in order to reach their full potential. We are also fortunate to have on board Mrs Goode.

The Phase Leader for Lower KS2 is Mrs Murfin.

Mornings in Year 4 are spent focussing on our Reading, English and Maths skills. In English and Reading we enjoy exploring a variety of text types, focussing inparticular on how they are organised and the grammar and vocabulary within them.

The new curriculum has provided us with some exciting topics for the afternoon sessions, with lots of practical activities to enjoy.

In Year 4 we are fortunate enough to receive instrumental tuition from the Schools Music Service.  One class learns to play a brass instrument such as the trumpet or trombone, and one class learns first the fife and then the flute.  We also do lots of activities to help us understand musical skills and vocabulary.

To help us with our thinking, planning and problem-solving skills, we have an hour of chess tuition each week and some of us are getting rather good at it!
