Year 1

Welcome to Year 1

In this important year the children apply their developing knowledge of how to read, write and use their numbers within the context of the National Curriculum.

Learning to read is really important, and the children receive daily phonics lessons and additional opportunities where the children can apply their newly found knowledge.  Towards the end of the year the children will complete their phonics check ensuring that they are able to decode words accurately.

We aim to provide a happy and secure learning environment where all the children are encouraged to try their best and reach their full potential.

We ensure that the classrooms are stimulating places which motivate the children to work hard and achieve whilst also having fun.

This year your child will be supported by: Mrs Taylor, Miss Hawker, Mrs Langham and Mrs Davies.

The Phase Leader for KS1 is Mrs H Taylor.

We provide the children with a broad and balanced curriculum which caters to the needs of all children. The children will primarily be learning through a number of exciting topics which are outlined in the termly topic letter.
